Understanding how Gabriel Medina and Yago Dora will be ‘partners and rivals’ in the pursuit of an Olympic spot

The Brazilian trio needs to win the competition in Puerto Rico to secure a third spot in the Paris Olympics – Filipinho and João Chianca are already guaranteed. However, the athlete who will represent the country in the competition will be the one with the best individual performance on the Caribbean island. In this case, the trio’s victory would secure Medina’s spot in the Olympics.

The change has created this “competition” among the Brazilians.
