Thiago Wild enters as lucky loser in Adelaide and debuts on Monday (8) – Lance!
After narrowly losing in the final of the qualifying round to Facundo Diaz Acosta, ranked 93rd, despite having three match points, Thiago Wild was fortunate enough to secure a spot as a lucky loser in the main draw of the ATP 250 in Adelaide, Australia. In the first round, the player from Paraná will face local qualifier Alex Bolt, ranked 325th, in a match scheduled for Monday night at 10 p.m. (Brasília time). The match will be the second one on Court 3, starting at 8:30 p.m. (Brasília time).
Thiago had previously lost their only encounter in 2021 on the grass court in Nottingham, England. In the final of the qualifying round, Wild had three match points to defeat Acosta but ended up losing 2/6 7/6 (8/6) 7/6 (7/3) early Monday morning (Brasília time). If he manages to defeat Bolt, Wild will face the top seed in the tournament, American Tommy Paul, ranked 14th and a semifinalist in the last Australian Open.
