Luisa Stefani injures knee and withdraws from Brisbane with Ingrid Martins – Lance!

Luisa Stefani, ranked number 18 in the world, has withdrawn from the WTA 500 in Brisbane, Australia, a hard court event with a prize money of $1.7 million. The Brazilian player experienced discomfort in her right knee and was unable to take the court with her partner, Ingrid Martins, who is ranked 50th. Stefani expressed her disappointment, stating, “Unfortunately, I don’t have good news right now. I had to withdraw from Brisbane due to discomfort in my right knee. I was really excited to start the season, especially with Ingrid, as we had been training really well. I had a great off-season in the last three to four months, and I was feeling close to my best physical form in a long time, maybe in the past few years. I’m upset that I am not 100% to begin this year, but, as always, looking on the positive side, the tests showed that it’s nothing serious. I have a great team of professionals who are helping me with the tests and decisions so that I can return to competition.”

Stefani is scheduled to play the WTA 500 in Adelaide next week, alongside her partner, Demi Schuurs from the Netherlands, and then the Australian Open. Ingrid Martins will compete in Adelaide and the Australian Open with her partner, Monica Niculescu from Romania.
