Luisa Stefani, ranked 18th in the world and mixed doubles champion at the Australian Open, had her first training session for the season’s first tournament, the WTA 500 in Brisbane, Australia, on Wednesday. She hit balls on the center court with American Sofia Kenin, the 2020 Australian Open singles champion. Kenin is coming off three wins at the World Tennis League in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, last weekend, including one against the second-ranked player, Aryna Sabalenka. Luisa is waiting for her partner for the first tournament of the year, Ingrid Martins from Rio de Janeiro, who is on her way to Australia. The Australian WTA event starts on Sunday, and the draw will take place on Friday night. After Brisbane, Luisa will play with her new regular partner for the year, Dutch player Demi Schuurs, in Adelaide and the Australian Open.
